The Mount House Association Tie
Memorial to past Mount House Teachers
A memorial to past Mount House School staff, in the form of an armillary sphere, has been unveiled at The School by the Headmaster Jim Massey. It was presented to The School by the Mount House Association as a tribute to the many staff members who have contributed so much to The School and its pupils over the years.

The armillary was commissioned by the Association, and created by David Harber, whose three-dimensional designs, including custom-built sundials, garden sculptures and water features as well as armillary spheres, feature in homes and gardens all over the world. The original armillary sphere was designed by Ptolemy almost 2,000 years ago to illustrate the idea of a universe that revolved around the earth.

The Mount House armillary was presented to The School by Patrick Cashell, Chairman of the Mount House Association in a brief ceremony on Association Day. It is positioned, appropriately, outside the staff room.

Marquee for the school
We have bought a small marquee in time for this year's Association Day, our days of struggling with gazeboes on a windswept morning are over! It arrived at the school in time to give the grounds men a challenging day as the instructions seemed to be missing! It was used to shelter the food and refreshing ale from the uncommonly hot sunshine on Association Day, but really came into its own the next day, when true to form, the rain appeared for the end of the parents versus leavers cricket match. Photos to follow.

Sponsored 10 mile walk, 18th September 2010
The school hold a fully organised and marshaled 10 mile walk in aid of a local, child-related charity every two years. This year the school are supporting Dame Hannah Rogers School. All members of the Association were invited to join the parents, teachers and pupils of the school for this lovely day out.
Association Day
Rounders
Held on Saturday 3rd of July, after the annual swimming gala. The U13 school rounders team took on our "old" girls, playing a match packed with laughter and banter! Next year we plan to have an Association T shirt printed, so let us know if you are able to come for 2011! Click here for the photos and report.

Cricket
In recent years, thoughts of Cricket matches on the Oval were under considerable threat because of the thoroughly unpleasant wet and cold weather, which seemed the norm at the beginning and towards the end of July. Happily, 2010 produced better conditions and the Oval, again, proved a perfect setting for matches both on Association Day and, a fortnight later, at the annual gathering of past pupils, guest players and supporters of the MHA Cricket scene.
